This weekend is the 10th annual Brompton World Championship. We are very excited that it is this year being hosted in central London for the first time, tying in with the Prudential Ride London cycling festival. The London event takes the form of a Le Mans style start as 575 smartly-dressed competitors who typically “dress up” to look like architects, wearing shorts, knitted ties and courd suits (strictly no Lycra) then make a mad dash to unfold their bikes before setting off on the 1.3-mile circuit which starts on The Mall, takes in Horse Guards Parade and Buckingham Palace before finishing back on The Mall. Given the cult-like nature of these much loved folding British Brompton bikes, this promises to be a hugely enjoyable and eccentric event with no doubt some competitors giving great accounts of their races in one of the fine local CAMRA pubs afterwards.

Monmouth Dean are very proud to have recently found and acquired a new premises for Brompton. We found them their new “Embassy” on Long Acre WC2. It’s been transformed into an excellent place to have your Brompton serviced or for buying new accessories or even a new bike - they also have an excellent café downstairs. Somehow we think it may be busy doing plenty of repairs on Monday!
